Social Media Marketing Tips
Did you know that 23% of all internet usage is being consumed by time spent on social media sites and blogs? With Facebook recently reaching over 800 million users it is becoming more and more obvious that this is something that is here to stay and not a passing fad.
The younger generation typically has a great understanding of the importance of social media, between sharing stories, status updates and photos between friends. However it is important to understand that there is far greater capability that lies within these sites, especially when using them as a tool to market yourself online and connect with potential customers.
First and foremost social media allows prospective customers to have up to the minute important information about you and your business. Have a special coming out that day? Blast it out to your subscribers. Has there been a major and important new product development? Share this with the people that know your work and choose to follow you for a reason!
We have heard time and time again that many doctors feel social media is just “a nice to have” but we know this feeling comes from a misunderstanding of what this revolution is all about. To give some insight into how this can be important to your business, here are a few basic statistics:
1- 77% of polled Facebook users say that they interact directly with brands they enjoy primarily through the following of status updates, and reading posts from the brands.
2- 17% of polled Facebook users say they interact directly with these brands by sharing their experiences with other Facebook members including positive and negative reviews. (An extremely important piece of the puzzle that we will touch on in an upcoming blog posting.)
3- 13% of those polled said they post updates about brands that they like.
These statistics should help shed some light on why so many Fortune 500 companies have corporate social media accounts and again why it is important to not be left behind!
